Some time ago we equiped our iStill 50 with the new power management module (PMM). The PMM allows you to override power manually and for instance step up power input. More power in means more redistillations and more redistillations make for a faster and more stable run. In Pure Mode that is.
The original iStill 50, running on 2 KW during product collection, gave around 3.25 to 3.5 liters of pure azeotrope per hour on a 30% low wines charge. With the PMM in place, and with power input beefed up to 2.8 KW (70% of maximum or heat-up power), performance goes up significantly.
The output in Pure Mode is now 4.25 liters of pure azeotrope per hour. Again, on a 30% low wines charge. I think I could up the power some more and throw 3 KW at the iStill 50 without any problems. The column can handle it. But I am not sure there is a point to that, since the needle valve is at it's most open position already.
That's 4.25 liters of 96.5% per hour on a 2 inch diameter column, packed with SPP.
