iStill on Energy Costs and Savings!
Why energy expenditure matters
Lower production costs result in more profit or at least a more sustainable business model, also in adverse times. Higher production costs result in lower profits and difficulties when the going gets tough. As distilling is about bringing an alcohol-rich liquid to a boil - and doing so for many hours - distilling is an energy intensive industry. Any savings on energy is therefore important.
How energy is traditionally managed in distilleries
Energy management usually takes a low priority in traditional still design. Copper is very conductive, so energy - put into the distilling machine to help bring that beer or wine to a boil - mostly heats up the distillery instead of the still.
In traditional stills up to 75% of energy goes to waste. This significantly raises production costs, resulting in a less future-proof and less environmentally responsible business case. Less profit, lower survivability rates during a depression.
How iStill helps?
iStills are engineered to convert as much of the energy input into alcohol production. Our stills are over 90% efficient. With iStill's proprietary technology you can save 70 to 75% on your energy bill, which results in higher profits, a brighter future, and a lower environmental impact.
