iStill VPN!
Why is it important?
iStill's are internet connected via a VPN, which stands for Virtual Private Network. iStill's VPN allows you to remotely monitor and manage your iStill. It also enables us to upload new software to your still, and to help you assemble, install, and do first runs with your iStill. The iStill VPN is also crucial for us being able to give you support, as is makes it possible for our staff to look at your machine, its settings, and the programs that you are running. It can also be used to report on warnings.
Why will it become even more important?
There is more: iStill's new data logging facility will also run of iStill's VPN. Your future (and often already existing) employer-responsibilities towards equipment maintenance? iStill's online connectivity helps you download maintenance schedules ... and uploads the maintenance you do.
Great! So what's new?
Well, two developments actually. First, as shown above, iStill's VPN is not just important already right now, but it will become even more important from 2025 onwards, as we want to support both your data logging wishes and machine maintenance obligations. More bandwidth is needed to support those activities.
At the same time, our supplier has informed us earlier this year, that our company account can no longer be used to service individual customers. Instead, each customer needs a separate account. For the last decade we paid for your VPN, yet we didn't charge you. From 2025 onwards we will charge you EUR 750,- annually to cover the costs of your VPN. Expect to find the invoice for 2025 in your email per coming January.
The sour? Here's the sweet!
Yeah, we get it: nobody likes to pay invoices. So we hope that you enjoyed us taking care of the costs of your VPN over the last years. At your service!
And now that you start paying for it, please look at the benefits it gave you and will continue to give you: remote updates and our online support when and where needed. From 2025 onwards your benefits will only increase via the possibility for data logging as well as the online machine maintenance management that it supports.
NextGen vs. Essential vs. Mini & Nano
The Essentials, Minis, and Nanos do not use a VPN. Customers with those, please be informed that there will be no added costs, as it is the NextGens that use a VPN and not the other units.
