Keep going, because ...
By Sebastiaan Smits
Hey guys. There's still some places left at the upcoming Master Distillers Course in November and I really don't understand why.
Sure, you all followed the Certified Distillers Course online or in person, otherwise you wouldn't be here. But how long since you actually looked at the course materials? Do you remember every subject Odin talked about? When did you do your last real objective tasting? It's so easy to go with the daily flow and forget about all the other parts of the process.
I you haven't taken the Masters Distillers Course you are missing out. A lot. There isn't a single course aimed at distilling as comprehensive at this one. Getting thorough organoleptic training, tied in with the Holy Trinity; creating a whisky, a gin, a rum, a vodka and a brandy within one week; experiment with fermentation.
Make no mistake: the drinks industry is changing rapidly. Your current award-winning product might be out of favour in a couple of years. If you don't develop your craft as a distiller, you become par of what you stood up against: tradition. Keep learning, keep developing, keep creating!
