Visiting Zimek Distillery!

Last week Veronika and I visited the Zimek Distillery. This amazing craft distillery, situated in the town of Zamardi, on the south coast of Lake Balaton, produces award-winning palinka - the famous Hungarian fruit brandy - as well as gin. They are considered one of Hungary's very best craft distillers and have more medals and awards than fit the walls of their tasting room!

The management team consists of Zsolt, Bianka, and Andras. Zsolt is the boss. Bianka is responsible for sales and marketing. Andras is Zimek's master distiller and site manager.

We toured the facility, and visited the distilling hall, the tasting room, as well as Zimek's fermentation building. We discussed the challenges of gin production and the seasonality of palinka distillation. Of course, still design was a topic we covered as well. In short, we had a lovely time and the Zimek Distillery is a great place to visit. Thanks Zsolt, Bianka, and Andras for being such amazing hosts! And thanks for the gifted bottles of palinka and gin!
