An iStill client ordered some SPP and compared it to running his VM column with scrubbers. The still originally had 80 centimetres of scrubbers and could produce 93% strong alcohol from a 10% wash. The amount of SPP he purchased was just enough for 70 centimetres of packing. With less packing the VM now produces at 95.5%. With SPP he gets a bigger heart cut and the resulting drink has a more neutral character.
New things for on the iStill Blog? What will I write about next week? I expect to visit Gyulai Palinka. A gold medal winning brandy from Hungary. An interview with Henk Stuurman, who is starting up a micro distillery in the Netherlands, will be out later. We are currently testing a new feature on the iStill 50. I hope to be able to give an update soon. And ... the iStill 50 h2o will be in.
I will keep you posted!
